Welcome

Enter a world where silence carries weight, where the edge becomes a beginning, and where each painting whispers of freedom reclaimed. These are not just artworks. They are echoes of a woman who learned to speak in colour when words no longer served her.

About BANU TULUMEN - ARTIST/AUTHOR

“To reclaim your voice is to become your own witness.”

“To reclaim your voice is to become your own witness.”

“To reclaim your voice is to become your own witness.”

I was born in Istanbul and now live and paint in British Columbia.

I rediscovered my creative voice not through words, but through silence — and eventually, through paint.

These works are whispers of that journey: from containment to becoming, from grief to breath, from erasure to colour.

I paint in round forms, portals, thresholds. My canvases are shaped like the freedom I once thought impossible.

I am Banu Tulumen. This is how I speak now.

See My Soul

"LOOK BEYOND THE SURFACE - THERE IN THE QUIET CHAOS AND ORANGE HUES, YOU WILL FIND THE MAP TO MY SOUL."

ARTIST STATEMENT

Banu Tulumen

I paint the quiet spaces between what can be said and what must be felt.

My work is intuitive, fluid, and layered — made with acrylics, resin, texture, and a deep trust in process. I often paint on round canvases, choosing shapes that defy corners and refuse confinement. For me, the circle is more than a form — it’s a symbol of wholeness, rebellion, and return.

I was born in Istanbul and now live and paint in British Columbia. My journey back to art was also a journey back to myself — a woman once silenced, now speaking through colour and movement. When words no longer served me, I found my voice in paint.

Each painting is a threshold. Some carry the echoes of loss, others the pulse of becoming. Many are elemental — fire, water, air, earth — while others trace memory, silence, or the unseen. There are dragons and moons, forests and fragments, shadows and light. What connects them is a sense of whispering presence — something felt more than explained.

I believe that freedom has a shape. And I paint to find it.
